Football Sites

Red Cafe Manchester United Forum

A fantastic forum, just a browser on there- quite a regular one admittedly.  Though it is a Manchester United forum and that is the focus, there is a-lot more to it.  The Man United side is of course fantastic and since reading it, I don't bother checking news sides/media for football related news.  A-lot of very good posters on there.  Has a number of opposition team fans.  They add something different and it is interesting to hear about how their clubs are doing and also their take on United.  Great place to read about current football happenings, memories and always a number of interesting topics/debates going on.  The other sections on the board are good too, such as the entertainment forum.  Have managed to find some excellent music, television and films via recommendations from there.   Just hope that they always keep it accessible and viewable to all!

Image Sites

There are a whole host of these but the above two are my favourites.  Whole feeds stacked full of high quality images, comic strips and posters of footballers then and now.  Football and Nietzche, a real mash up mainly from Europe with current images, players as kids, legendary players, historic images and some from times gone by.  The second describes itself as-  "Heavy on vintage photos, Inter, Serie A and Gli Azzurri, with occasional appearances from:Brazil, Ligue 1, Frenchies, old Brits and assorted Russians."  Well worth scrolling through, some fantastic images in both and a great way to bring back memories and get a laugh at some of the players when they were a-lot more innocent!

Another United  Forum

It is a unique United forum and one which I post on.  It has been going for a while, though under different guises.  Much like the mighty club it is for, this forum just never dies.  It is home to a dedicated bunch of fans and is very well ran.  Posters are all easy going and have a good knowledge of United and the game in general.  Plenty topics discussed.  The administrator is a seasoned United fan who has some great tales to tell.  He isn't the only more experienced one on the board, so it is great to have their insight- especially into times gone by and what has changed.

The Football Ramble

Been an avid listener of their podcast since it began.  It is a great listen, just four mates who are passionate about the game talking about it.  It is light hearted, informative and covers all bases- talking about the game all over the world and the current topics/issues.  Especially enjoy the profiles feature, in which most often historic players careers are spoken of in a talk kind of thing.  Teams, television shows, clubs, managers plus other things are sometimes also profiled (one per show).  The site itself is very good and has its own forum.  The guys who present the podcast regularly write features.  There are other regular content writers and find the articles that appear to be very good.  A-lot of humour, with the lighter side of the game shown and video uploads too.

Zonal Marking

An absolutely fantastic blog and resource.  I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to things like tactics etc in the game.  Zonal Marking evaluates and analyses matches in painstaking detail and with more diagrams and graphs than you could shake a stick at!  Often runs special features on teams from the past, how tactics have changed, individual players and plenty more besides.  It simplifies things and evaluates the game in such a way that is both interesting and informative.  They really are outstanding when it comes to the tactical side of the game and it is much more digestible than the analysis that the motley crew on Match of the Day provides!

Spielverlagerung

Pretty much the German version of Zonal Marking.  Most of their articles are in German but they also publish a good few in English too.  Have found it a really great site and has fantastically well written and detailed articles.  Really do disect every detail of the Bundesliga games it reviews.  I do wish that I could understand  German to get the most out of the site.  Worth following all the same and they also do specialised articles that focus on teams seasons, football happenings and also analysis of teams outside the German league.
