Kaka Class

A great move for player and club (romantically, we'll see if so in practice).  The summer seen a return "home" to AC Milan for Ricardo Kaka.  The Brazilian has been plagued by recurring injuries and is again out of action for a number of weeks with a thigh injury sustained on his debut.  Poor guy can't catch a break and Milan have a mounting injury list, hardly ideal with the return of the Champions league this week.  Kaka his opted to forego his wages until he is fit again-  "I don't want anything from Milan except for love and support until I am better.  For this reason, I have decided to suspend my current pay for this period of time".

Rainbow Laces

In this weekends fixtures across England's professional football leagues (Sat 21st and Sun 22nd of September) look out for rainbow laces on players boots.  The Rainbow Laces campaign is fighting against homophobia in football.  There is a long, long, long way to go but it is a positive that some moves are being made.  It is a difficult issue in football, largely due to the fans and the subsequent abuse that players who come out may receive.  The campaign itself is not set to achieve too much, there are like many of these things some logistical problems and a lack of support from clubs.  But if it can help to bring attention to and help to reverse attitudes ir will hopefully lead to a future acceptance and support for gay footballers.  It isn't an easy one, on one hand it would be "safer" for players to remain silent but more ramifications can happen to individuals keeping it a secret and bottled up.

English with Di Canio

Under fire and controversial Sunderland manager, Paolo di Canio has instructed  his foreign players have to learn five new English words per day. He was very frustrated to discover how poor his players English speaking skills are.  Tip for you Di Canio, try signing English or British players instead!  A failure to follow the five word rule, will result in players being fine- Full Story
